Coriolis Precision is built privacy-first. Your firearms, certificates, ammunition, range records and photographs stay on your device. There are no accounts, we run no trackers, and we never sell your data. Your subscription is handled by Google Play - we keep no record of you on our own systems.
One exception, added in version 1.1 and set out in full at §5a: if you use Capture firing detail, the app sends that coordinate - and nothing else - to a weather service so it can fill in the conditions for you. It is the only thing the app ever sends anywhere, and it does not come to us.
Coriolis Precision (“we”, “us”, “our”) makes the Coriolis Precision mobile application. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact support@coriolisprecision.co.uk. We are the data controller for the limited processing described in this policy.
The app is designed so that the personal and sensitive information it helps you manage - including firearms-certificate details, firearm serial numbers, ammunition holdings and your shooting records - is stored only on your device. It is not uploaded to us, and we cannot see it. If you uninstall the app, that data is removed with it, so keep your own backup if you wish to retain it.
We never receive any of the following. It lives on your phone or tablet:
This information never leaves your device unless you deliberately export or share a file yourself - for example, saving a PDF report and choosing to send it.
Your subscription is managed entirely by Google Play. Google, as the seller, records your purchase and tells the app whether your subscription is active; we do not run a server that stores your subscription or any record tied to you, and we never see or store your card or bank details. The app checks your entitlement through Google Play - not through us - so there is nothing about you on our systems to hold.
The app can use your device camera to photograph targets so it can measure your groups. This image processing happens on your device. Photographs are stored locally with your records and are not sent to us.
Capture firing detail is optional, and nothing below happens unless you use it. When you do, the app reads your device’s position, the direction the phone is pointing and its tilt, to prefill a firing solution. That is stored on your device with your records and is never uploaded to us.
To fill in the conditions, the app sends the coordinate, and nothing else, to Open-Meteo, a weather service, which returns the temperature, pressure, humidity and wind for that place. This is the only time the app sends anything anywhere, and it happens only at the moment you tap capture. No name, no device identifier, and nothing about your firearms, certificate or records goes with it. We do not receive it either - the request goes from your phone to the weather service directly, and we run no server in between.
Decline the location permission and the rest of the app is unaffected: you type the conditions in yourself, exactly as before. Every captured value stays editable either way, and you can withdraw the permission at any time in your device settings.
Google Play requires us to describe this as location being collected (it is, on your device) and shared (the coordinate reaches a third party). Both are true, and our Data Safety declaration says so. We would rather over-declare than have you find it out for yourself.
The app downloads catalogue updates - ammunition, bullets, powders, cartridge standards and similar reference data - over the internet, so your data stays current without a full app update. These are one-way downloads to your device. They do not carry any of your personal information back to us.
We hold nothing about you on our systems, and we share nothing with anyone - the single transmission the app makes is the weather lookup at §5a, which goes to a weather service and not to us. A future update may let you choose to contribute anonymised information that improves the shared catalogue for everyone - for example, offering to send us the details of an ammunition we don’t yet list. If that arrives, it will always be:
We hold no personal data about you on our systems, so for day-to-day use there is nothing for us to process. Your subscription is provided under our contract with you, handled through Google Play. If a future update adds optional contributions, our basis for those will be your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Because we hold nothing about you on our systems, your data is already entirely in your hands, on your device - there is essentially nothing on our side for us to show, correct or delete. If you believe we hold anything about you, contact support@coriolisprecision.co.uk and we will help. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Data on your device is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. We keep no records about you on our own systems, so there is nothing on our side to retain; your subscription is held by Google Play under their terms.
If the app closes unexpectedly, it saves a diagnostic report - what the app was doing when it failed - on your device. That report is only ever sent to us if you choose to send it: you will be asked, and nothing is transmitted without your tap.
Separately, if your device is set to share diagnostics with Google, Google Play may provide us with anonymised, aggregated crash and performance statistics for the app. That is governed by your Google device settings, not by us, and it does not identify you.
Coriolis Precision is a tool for lawful firearms and shotgun certificate holders and users, in line with UK firearms law - under which a person may hold a Firearms Certificate from the age of 14, so lawful users are not all adults. You must be at least 14 to use the app: the age at which a Firearms Certificate may be held, and above the minimum age Google sets for a Google account. Anyone under 18 should use it with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian. It is a records and reference tool for licensed shooting, not a children’s app.
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
